Take a moment
From the journey home
Photography from places and moments that have stayed with me.
Digital Photograph - Together on the Trail
This image was captured shortly after crossing Zatrwa La Pass at around 4,600 metres, one of the first major climbs on our journey towards Mera Peak. We had met these two along the trail and ended up trekking together for the next several days.
There's something about travelling through the mountains that makes you quickly form connections with people you've only just met. Days later, you're sharing the same trail, the same tired legs and the same excitement about what's still ahead.

Digital Photograph — The Coast Behind Us
After making our way through the Abel Tasman Great Walk, we jumped on a water taxi to return to where we'd started. Having spent several days walking this coastline, it was pretty cool to suddenly see the entire journey from the water.
This was one of those moments where you realise just how much ground you've covered. A coastline that had taken us days to explore was disappearing behind us in less than an hour.

Digital Photograph - Among the Ruins
This image was captured while exploring the ancient temples of Ayutthaya on a day trip from Bangkok. The sun was absolutely blasting down as we wandered through the ruins, but the huge trees around the temples offered some much needed shade.
I loved the way the branches framed this old temple and Buddha, with the harsh midday light bringing out the texture of the ancient brickwork.

Digital Photograph - First Glimpse
This was the view from our first teahouse after leaving Lukla, as we began making our way towards Mera Peak. We'd only just started the trek, but seeing these mountains stretching out in front of us made it feel very real that we were heading deeper into the Himalayas.
It was one of those moments where the excitement of the expedition really started to sink in. There was still a long way to go, but the mountains were already showing us what was ahead.

I captured this photo while cruising through Milford Sound in New Zealand. The spray from the boat running down the windows, turning a familiar view into something much more abstract.

Digital Photograph -Taking the Long Way
I captured this while exploring Castle Hill in New Zealand's Arthur's Pass region, living out of my van and taking each day as it came. There was nowhere I needed to be and no real plan beyond chasing mountains, trails and whatever scenery looked worth stopping for.
This was one of the things I loved most about travelling through New Zealand, having the freedom to slow down, explore and take the long way wherever the road led.

Digital Photograph - The Way to Mera
This was taken as we made our way towards Mera Peak High Camp, looking back across the mountains we'd just travelled through. After spending time acclimatising at around 5,000 metres, I remember this day feeling completely different. We were strong, energised and excited as Mera Peak began to feel closer.
Standing in that landscape with a single person disappearing into the vastness of the Himalayas was one of those moments that really put the scale of the expedition into perspective.

Digital Photograph - Before the Summit
This view of Lobuche East High Camp was captured shortly after we arrived, with the afternoon disappearing into the clouds around the mountain. We had a little time to ourselves before an early dinner and a few hours of sleep, knowing we'd be up at 2am for our summit push.

Digital Photograph - Before the Mountains
Arriving in Kathmandu a few days before setting off on our three-peaks expedition gave us some time to explore the city. We spent those days wandering through places like Kathmandu Durbar Square, taking in the incredible architecture and getting our first taste of the culture before heading into the mountains.

Digital Photograph - The Way Through Ha Giang
In the early moments of our trip through the vast landscapes of Hà Giang, we rode our bikes through the mountains and came across the famous Tham Ma Pass. The road wound its way through the landscape as the rounded limestone mountains rose around us.
The mountains landscapes over the coming days looked almost like massive fingertips reaching out from the earth, with the road weaving its way between them. It was one of those early moments on the trip where you realise just how wild and expansive this part of Vietnam really is.
